• Login to the client's: admin.microsoft.com > Exchange
  • Enable the user's In-Place Archive in Exchange Admin Center

Force the archiving via PowerShell

  • Launch Microsoft Exchange Online PowerShell
  • Connect to Exchange Online Powershell using the scripts below:
    • Connect-ExoPsSession -UserPrincipalName "customer's admin email" (1Pass)
    • Enter the password (1Pass)
    • Authenticate MFA code (1Pass)
  • Initiate script: Start-ManagedFolderAssistant -Identity user@customer.com

This command will force the newly enabled In-Place archive of the client's email account

You can monitor the progress by:

  1. Checking the Mailbox Usage from the customer's account properties
  2. Checking the details of the In-Place Archive
